Summer holidays are over, time for new art across the porcelain throne. This time I found a cutout which has to be MONET (1840 -1926), ...google...google, yes it is Monet's "Flowers on the Banks of the Seine near Vethuile" (1880). I found it not as corny as his other pond or lily works, here the view goes deeper. It is always great to watch water and flora and fauna near it.

Of course it is fun to watch water from a bridge, too. Only on the second painting across the loo, we don't know it's a bridge. I know it because I tore out the page from an old art magazine. which gives some details. It is by French painter Luigi LOIR(1845- 1916), a contemporary of Monet, who painted many of the same themes, such as this one here called "Le Pont des Arts. Vue de Quais" (1888). J'adore pictures with wet streets or a little bad weather. Loir also painted great winter scenes. Strangely I could not find this work anywhere online, but under provenance the Hirschl & Ader galleries of NYC is listed. Their web site is very interesting, listing current and old painters' works with prices. Fun fun for googling. I wonder who has "Le pont des Arts" hanging in their living room these days.....
